New Hampshire, USA (August 2001)
Piwi was actually on vacation in New Hampshire from 22- 27 July, but he continued to stay with his host family during August and I had had nothing to put in for that month, so August it is!! It's lucky it didn't end up being December, which is how long it took before I received these photos....but they were well worth the wait ;-)
The above photo was taken in a river named "Mad River" in Waterville Valley and the one on the right, was in a little falls just South of Mount Osceola.
Hey you guys... did you know that a New Zealander, A.J Hackett, first started bungy jumping? But over here, the first thing we do is check that the ropes are secured firmly around our feet...Where are Piwi's?
This profile was formed by glacial action thousands of years ago and was first seen by white men in 1805.
The Highest Wind Ever Observed By Man Was Recorded Here!" From 1932 to 1937 the Mt Washington Observatory was operated in the Summit Stage Office then occupying this site. In a great storm April 12, 1934 the crews instruments measured a wind velocity of 231 MILES PER HOUR!
Piwi also managed to get to the Summit of Mt Washington, which is 6.288 feet or 1.917m. Sir Edmund Hillary would be proud of him! The view must have been just spectacular! This is what it must be like for a Kiwi, living on the edge!
Thank you to Bart, Esther, Doug and Luke, for showing him such a good time...I hear he wants to book in another holiday with you guys ;-)
