Gisborne/My Home
I come from Gisborne, a nice little hideaway on the East Coast of the North Island of New Zealand. Gisborne is recognized as being the First City in the world to greet the sun each day. The population of the district is 45,000 (with 30,000 residing within the city area)

Gisborne is one of the sunniest places in New Zealand, with average sunshine of around 2200 hours. Temperatures of 38°C have been recorded and we have on average 65 days a year where the maximum is over 24°C. We enjoy a temperate climate with generally warm summers and mild winters which is great for all the outdoor activities people enjoy. We have beautiful beaches which are used by surfers, sunbathers, water skiers, jet skiers, boaties and swimmers alike. And we have an abundance of seafood, including fin fish, crayfish, paua and kina. Here are some photos of my "family" enjoying the local scenery.

Gisborne's, Kaiti Beach, was the first landing place of Captain James Cook in New Zealand and is commemorated with a monument and as well, we have "the man himself" standing guard over our shores near Waikanae Beach.
And some other sights from around Gisborne....
Our Town Clock ... Anzac Memorial.... Centennial Marine Drive Wharf Sunset ...Midway Beach.... Midway Sunset New Zealand's own "Christmas Tree" the Pohutukawa, which graces our coastline and flowers during the Summer months.
